Electric mobility: TotalEnergies to install and operate around 300 charge points at Rungis market

Paris – April 24, 2024 – TotalEnergies has won a call for tenders issued by market management authority Semmaris for the installation and operation of around 300 charge points at the Rungis International Market site for a 12-year period. All charge points will be powered using renewable electricity, certified via guarantees of origin. The first installations are scheduled for completion by summer 2024.

To meet all customers’ needs, charge points will be spread across the various sections of the wholesale market, which spans 235 hectares and employs around 12,000 people. In addition to taking over the site’s existing charging infrastructure (54 charge points), TotalEnergies will install 238 charge points with a power of 7-22 kVA and 10 high-power (200 kW) charge points. Among these, 20 charge points will be dedicated to electric trucks.

“These 300 new charge points will give professionals passing through Rungis International Market access to a reliable charging service that’s adapted to their needs. With 7 million professionals passing through each year, it’s essential that the site be equipped to enable their transition to electric mobility. And we’re thrilled to be accompanying Rungis with this process,” said Marie Djordjian, Managing Director France, TotalEnergies Charging Services.

Stéphane Layani, CEO of Rungis International Market commented: “Decarbonizing the world’s biggest wholesale market is not an easy task. One of my priorities is to facilitate the transition to cleaner mobility solutions for market workers and buyers. With almost 300 new charge points spread across the site, we’re giving them ample opportunity to integrate electric vehicles into their day-to-day operations. And that’s one step closer to my primary objective of reaching carbon neutrality by 2050.”

TotalEnergies already operates more than 22,000 charge points in France, located curbside, in public or corporate parking lots, and at service stations. As part of its strategy to deploy charging solutions across the country to support the rise of electric mobility, TotalEnergies has already equipped 200 service stations in France. Its aim is to reach 500 by 2026, of which:

  • 200 stations on major roads (motorways and bypasses)
  • 300 stations in cities, suburbs and transit areas (such as airports and train stations), a third of which will be 100% electric. By end-2024, TotalEnergies will inaugurate a new fully-electric station (“Relais Rungis Lindbergh”) adjacent to Rungis International Market, equipped with 10 high-power (300 kW) charge points.
